Oswestry School Aquathlon
Oswestry School has held its first Aquathlon. The event was open to pupils from Year 5 upwards, their families and friends and participants competed both individually and in teams.
The Aquathlon involved the completion of three endurance events. Younger pupils were asked to undertake 12 lengths of the school’s swimming pool and 2 laps of the Maes-y-Llan playing fields whilst older pupils and adults raced for 24 lengths of the pool and 3 laps of the fields.
Prizes were given in each category with the new Head of Science, Miss Alison Sefton, winning the women’s section and Sixth Form pupil, Jack Thorpe, winning the men’s. Headmaster, Mr Julian Noad, presented the winners medals.
The event was organised by Mr Alun Morris, Sports Coach here at Oswestry School, who said “The Aquathlon was a great success, we hope to arrange another for Easter 2016 which will be promoted as a charity event. We intend to open the event to the local community and would like to see the Aquathlon as a popular annual event”.
