Oswestry School A level results 2019
Our pupils are celebrating another set of fabulous A-level results this year. We are delighted to have maintained our 96% pass rate with our top five pupils achieving an average of 3.5 A levels equivalent to a points tally just below A*A*A*. With the media suggesting that “students achieving the top grades at A-level has fallen to its lowest level for more than a decade” we are pleased to have maintained our %A*-A at 16%
The vast majority of our pupils are heading to university in a range of qualifications. Demetre Devidze secured the grades for his place at Oxford University to read Physics whilst Oliver Anwyl will study Veterinary Medicine after a gap year. Other destination studies include archaeology, real estate, cybersecurity, and philosophy. Our sporting successes also continue with Owen Robinson accepting a soccer scholarship to an American university and Ben Clark moves on to a professional contract with Welsh champions TNSFC.
The Headmaster commented “I am delighted by the wide-ranging successes of our pupils. Given our non-selective intake and the increased challenge of A-levels, we are pleased by the overall figures. Moreover, I celebrate the individual successes. Our pupils have worked hard at their studies but also engaged with a wider co-curriculum which has developed their much needed ‘soft’ skills’. I wish every one of them every future happiness”.
