Ivan finishes 3rd in national maths competition

Lower Sixth Form pupil and academic scholar, Ivan Majić, has finished third in the Liverpool Mathematical Society Open Challenge which is sponsored by the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the University of Liverpool.

The competition took place over February half term with schools from across the UK taking part. Entries were invited from pupils in Year 13 or below and the topic for this year’s paper was the Periodic Table of Elements.

The Liverpool Mathematical Society (LivMS) was founded in 1899 as a meeting place for ‘persons interested in Mathematics’ with the support of professors at the then University College. The Society now have a programme of popular lectures which includes a Christmas Lecture, FunMaths Roadshow and Pop Maths Quiz.

Ivan will now travel to the University of Liverpool for the Open Challenge Prize Evening held in the Central Teaching Laboratory.
