Oxford success for Demetre Devidze
We are absolutely delighted to share the news that Upper Sixth pupil, Demetre Devidze, has been offered a place at Oxford University to read Physics. All being well with results this summer, he will commence his studies in September joining St Catherine’s College.
Demetre comes from Georgia and is studying A-level physics, mathematics, and further mathematics. Last year he was made a Prefect and alongside his studies he has taken advantage of the many extra curricular activities on offer here at School. Demetre, along with other members of the Sixth Form, has enjoyed the stimulus of Six Easy Pieces, an applied mathematics club run by further mathematics teacher, Dr Ellis, and the Headmaster. This has provided an invaluable challenge and experience for his interviews and assessments at Oxford.
Demetre had this to say, "I never would have imagined that one day I would receive an offer from one of the best universities in the world, I want to say thank you to my school, to all the members of staff for encouraging me and giving me hope that one day I would push my boundaries way beyond what I had imagined.
"Other than receiving a perfect education, I have made lots of friends and been involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities which has given me many everlasting memories. Finally, I would like to say that wherever I go and whatever I achieve in future, I will always be thankful to my school for showing me the path to success."
