A level results 2018
Pupils are celebrating another set of fabulous A-level results this year. Whilst national results were expected to fall this year, our pupils coped magnificently such that 45% of all papers earned A*-B grades, which is in line with last year.
Admir Krnic bagged A*A*B and heads to Manchester University to read Computer Science and Mathematics. Head boy, Roly Hancock, obtained three A grades and has secured his place at Leeds University to study mechatronics and robotics. Greta Horvathova, AAB, has grades for a place at Edinburgh and neuroscience. Oswestry School pupils have broad horizons. Deputy Head boy, Vlad Choghoshvili, is off to Italy, to read economics at Bocconi University. Whilst local girl Victoria Raffle has already started at Indiana Tech University in America, reading sports management; her place was secured with a golf scholarship and now backed up by excellent A-level results.
Julian Noad, Headmaster, commented “This is a very pleasing set of results, particularly given our non-selective intake and the increased challenge of reformed A-levels. To maintain our excellent pass rates in this climate is a magnificent indication of the hard work of both our pupils and our staff. They also engage in such a full and successful co-curriculum, developing leadership and other wider skills, ensuring that they really do leave Oswestry School having learned ‘for life’ and with ambitions that take them all over the world. I wish them all every future success and happiness”.
