Open Morning 2018
Oswestry School and Bellan House are throwing open their doors to the public for their Open Morning on Saturday 6 October. This is an opportunity for prospective parents and pupils to step into the world of Oswestry School and see what the girls and boys do every day.
We offer an exceptional pastoral and academic experience where every child is treated as an individual and valued for their own unique strengths, talents and ambitions. Pupils are encouraged to work hard and balance their academic studies with a full extra-curricular programme so they achieve their personal best in all areas of school life; there are more than 50 clubs extra-curricular clubs and activities to choose from.
The extensive curriculum aims to develop intellectual curiosity and a thirst for learning, encouraging children to think independently and put their knowledge to good use in the real world. Pupils make the most of a balanced programme of creative and scientific subjects resulting in a 98% pass rate at A level and one third of pupils achieving A*-A at GCSE.
Along with full, weekly and flexi boarding opportunities there are extensive bus routes into Shropshire, Powys, Wrexham and Cheshire with a new Express Bus from Shrewsbury in the new academic year.
Our beautiful grounds inspire pupils and staff alike, providing an environment to stretch and develop both physically and personally. The Momentum Sports Hall has now been completed and this provides opportunities for children who may not excel in other areas. The ‘traditional’ boys’ games are offered to girls and the we now offer girls’ football, cricket and rugby. Alongside these sporting stalwarts are the smaller sports including fencing, fives and sailing; these activities provide a haven for those pupils where the mainstays of rugby, netball, cricket and hockey have no appeal.
An education at Oswestry School starts at Bellan House in Reception where teachers learn about the person your child is now and ends when they leave us as the young adult they aspire to be. Pupils fully embrace life at Oswestry School, with opportunities to travel and engage with the global community. They emerge with the confidence and skills to make a difference to the world around them.
Above all, Oswestry School is a vibrant and welcoming community, where individuals are valued for who they are and the sound of laughter reverberates throughout the School with an adventure to be had every day.
