3rd Form face the Dragons for business enterprise day

3rd Form recently took part in a business enterprise day which introduced them to the world of business by helping them to develop their entrepreneurial, problem solving, presentation and team working skills. The younger children attended seminars in the morning run by Sixth Form business pupils and took part in numerous workshops which enabled them to take a product through from conception to launch. Ideas were pitched to our very own panel of Oswestrian Dragons (Miss Sefton, Mrs Evans, Miss Raffle, Mr Guan and Mr Cooper).
Seven groups presented a range of new innovative ideas including ingenious traffic lights, a thermal phone that 'runs off you!’, weather-proof headphone covers, a shopping app, dissolvable chewing gum, a device for keeping your snacks safe and a hydrogen based device to provide water and electricity.
Best Business Idea went to Chewing Gone, a revolutionary dissolvable chewing gum thought up by Sam Dudgeon, Jake Jenkins, Jessica Tsang, Fabien Nancini, Euan Montgomery and Alfie Heasmer-Jones. This group impressed the Dragons with the many facts and figures they presented to support the launch of thesir product.
Best Team was awarded to Snack Secure, a device to keep your snacks safe by Samuel Guan, Ashraf Osman, Billy McIntyre, Alys Makin and Kaysha Tomlinson. The Dragons like the group's catchy pitch and the quick responses to harsh questioning.
Winning Pitch went to Wet Power, 'When you need a drop of energy', a device to provide water and electricity by Lola Kynaston-Evans, David Hall, Haydn Cook, Edgar Fensome and Ben Owen-Smith. This team's key facts were presented to support their bid and, along with their technical explanation and their ability to answer the challenging questions posed by the Dragons, this won they the Winning Pitch award.
