Shrewsbury Abbey Open Doors 2017

3 days, 18 schools, over 450 children and three fantastic song writing workshops were supported by a team of our pupils.  Three days were spent exploring Shrewsbury Abbey, the Lord's prayer and the development and monastic settlements and this was supported with visits from the Bishop of Lichfield and the team of clergy and volunteers at Shrewsbury Abbey.  One of the highlights for both the primary school children and our seniors was meeting a real monk, Father Dom Cadfan Williams, who talked about his life searching for God.

Our team of talented pupils helped young musicians from around the diocese develop their composition, songwriting and performing skills.  Each day saw the creation of a new song and alongside this the creation of new friendships.  The pupils made an outstanding contribution to the brilliant team of volunteers that make the whole of Open Doors work at Shrewsbury Abbey.  Well done to Erin Thorpe-Downey, Thomas Barnes, Valeriia Chertilina, Michael Doyle, Tiffany Chong, Charlotte Garton, Nia Rees, Alys Makin, William Hallworth-Cook and Alfie Heasmer-Jones.
