1st Form OsBiz Design Challenge
Our Business and Design faculty have hosted a practical and fun day for 1st Form designed to promote creativity and innovation. Working in teams the budding entrepreneurs and designers were tasked with a brief to design, manufacture, brand and pitch a mobile phone holder to our very own team of Oswestrian Dragons.
The day allowed students to develop their entrepreneurial, design, problem solving and team working skills to create a viable product suitable for the high street. The Dragons were impressed with what the teams had achieved in one day as each had manufactured a product, branded it and delivered an effective business pitch which would convince any savvy venture capitalist to part with their money!
‘Snap Stand’ (Eric, Archie, Matthew, Abi and Connie) delivered an effective pitch with an eye catching product. They had clearly done some great research. Their slogan ‘Snap, Tap and Relax’ completed the package.
‘Gadget Caddy’ (Sam, Scarlett, Ana, Ben and Harry) wowed the dragons with their clever logo and colourful product which was simple but practical.
Clever marketing was used by ‘Woof’ (Jac, James, Hamish, Bella and Lucy) who presented ‘Your phones best friend’ - a real must for any dog lover!
The Winning Pitch was awarded to ‘Go Lazy’ (Josh, Tom, Rollo, Marta, Andrew and Joshua) who impressed the dragons with their enthusiastic, engaging presentation and unique product design. ‘Go Lazy be hands free’ was the slogan devised.
Pinelppa (Edward, Seb, Scott, Adrian and Bethan) was awarded the prize for Best Design. Dragons loved the concept and design and its ‘funky’ brand name and slogan ‘Just ‘elping out’.
All teams did such a fantastic job, however, there has to be a winner and the team that really stood out on the day was Ellaphone (Jemima, Shona, Kathrine, Tony and Becky). Their winning pitch, aesthetically pleasing product, slogan “You can trust the trunk” all went down a treat, but it was the idea to donate some of the profits to the Elephant Trust Fund that really swung the decision in their favour. What a fantastic idea! This group were awarded the Best Business Idea.
