Pupils go through to regional final in national Youth Speaks competition
Sixth Form pupils from Oswestry School, Adelina Creciun, Matthew Cooper and Sebastian Banks, have completed two rounds of the national Rotary Youth Speaks competition and will now be heading to the Regional Finals at the end of the month.
The team beat off competition from local schools Moreton Hall and The Marches to win the first round of local heats. The students travelled to Glyndwr University to compete in the District rounds and placed first in a group of schools including Birkenhead School and St David’s College.
This competition offers young people a chance to experience speaking on a public platform and gives them the opportunity to learn and practise high standards of expression, presentation and appearance.
Adelina, Matthew and Sebastian will now go forward to the Regional Finals and, if successful, will compete in the National Finals later in the year.
