A level exam results 2016
We are celebrating yet another fantastic set of A-level results with improvements in all categories: A*-B 62.3% (up from 51.3%); A*-C 84.5% (up from 75.0%); and A*-E ’passes’ 98.3% (tantalisingly close to 100% and up from 92.8%). This is a fantastic achievement from this year’s pupils, especially given the concerns about the introduction for this cohort of ‘harder’ linear A-levels.
Tilly Hancock secured three A*s in Biology and Mathematics and Physics; she has gained a place to study Physics at Bristol University. Abigail Adcock achieved excellent grades. Abi will go on to read Hispanic Studies and History at Exeter University, having scored A*AB in Spanish, History and English Literature.
Overseas pupil Renato Pecovic, from Montenegro, achieved three A levels with grades of AAA, and will read Philosophy and Economics at the London School of Economics. Senior Prefect and Deputy Head Boy, Joey Marks, secured grades of AAB and will take up his place at Loughborough University to read Economics while local boy, Ollie Renwick also achieved AAB and will read Chemistry at Nottingham University.
The Headmaster was quick to praise the hard work of pupils and staff, “A-level results are the culmination of many years hard work. That this year’s pupils have performed so well in the context of new style A-levels for most is especially pleasing. Although the pupils deserve the praise, there is much hard work from staff to be commended. This year’s fabulous inspection report praised the School; these results demonstrate the increased academic emphasis, ensuring that every pupil benefits from the very best support to achieve their goals”.
