Young musicians excel at Oswestry Youth Music Festival
Twenty three pupils from across Bellan House and the Senior School along with two choirs, Handbell and Ukulele groups entered the Oswestry Youth Music Festival. From these entries the children achieved an outstanding ten First Place awards across a variety of disciplines.
Special mentions go to Bellan House pupils Poppy Polden, 9, who gained a first with distinction in the 12 and under solo string section and Olivia Philbin, 9, who achieved a first with distinction in the 12 and under drum kit solo and a second with distinction in the 9 and under vocal solo. Young Freddie Heasmer-Jones, 8, performed in four separate classes and received two firsts, a second and a third. Freddie's younger brother Bertie, was the youngest pupil to enter the competition and together with his brother they won the piano duet class. Both the Year 3 and 4 Choir and the Year 5 and 6 Choir sang incredibly in the competition. The end result was a first with distinction for the Year 5 and 6 Choir and a second for the Year 3 and 4 Choir in the 11 and under class.
At the Senior School particular note goes to Second Form pupil, Kizzy Lumley-Edwards, 12, who stole the show by placing first in four different classes of vocal solos, and second in a further two vocal solo classes.
