Oswestry Pupils’ Audience with the Duke of Edinburgh

Four of our past pupils have recently collected their Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards from the Duke of Edinburgh at Westminster Palace. Leo Banks, Christian Blount-Powell, Matteo O’Mahoney and Melanie Yi Lyn Shim all completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh whilst studying for their A Levels. When they met with the Duke, they thoroughly enjoyed sharing their adventures and they spoke with confidence and pride.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and all its associated activities are one of the many fantastic opportunities on offer here at Oswestry. This year, we have a record number of pupils who are completing their Gold Duke of Edinburgh with sixteen undertaking the award.

Mr Othen, Head of Adventure Education believes, “The best part of the Duke of Edinburgh award is watching young people enter it with varying confidence and a lack of knowledge, and seeing them grow into capable practitioners with new found self belief on their journey from Bronze to Gold.”
