Founders Weekend

Friday 27th November

AGM - 6.00pm in the school chapel

The format of the dinner will be:

Drinks reception and canapés from 7.30 p.m in the Peter Humphreys Centre, followed by a two course meal and coffee. A bar available, with wine available on offer. The dress code will be lounge suits with the option of the OO or School tie. Carriages from midnight.

Our guest speaker will be Mark Cheetham OO (1978-1987). Mark attended Oswestry School as a boarder from 1978 to 1987. After A levels he moved to London to train in medicine at St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School. He graduated in 1993 and trained in general and colorectal surgery in London and Oxford. He spent time carrying out research at St Mark’s Hospital in London and finishing training as a surgeon in 2005. Mark moved back to Shropshire in 2005 and has since worked as a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Over the last 5 years he has been increasingly involved in the management and leadership of health services in Shropshire. He is currently the Care Group Medical Director for Scheduled Care at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Hospital Trust. Mark is married to Julia and they have two children, Thomas (aged 14) and Eve (aged 11).

Saturday 28th November

10.30 Service in St Oswald's Church, guest preacher Rev Kim Taplin.

Following this will be the grand opening of the science laboratories with champagne reception.

After the official opening please join us in the PHC for coffee with parents, pupils, staff, friends and Old Oswestrians. Tours will be provided as well as buses from St Oswald's to the School.

Old Oswestrian Sports vs. School will take place in the afternoon:

  • Netball 1.00pm: contact Millie Evans to put your name down.
  • Football 2.00pm: contact Mark Evans to put your name down.
  • Shooting 2.00pm: contact Dan Munford to put your name down.
  • Hockey 2.30pm (with training from 2.00pm): contact Millie Evans to put your name down.

Hot refreshments will be available from the Pavilion between 2.00pm - 4.30pm
